Your host can arrange activities of your choice from fishing, canoe – kayaking, water sports, endurance & downhill mountain biking, karting, clay pigeon shooting and horse riding as well as cultural and historical excusions.

Canoeing and Kayaking are a 15km drive from La Chataigneraie, with options for 2 – 3 hours canoeing along the Vienne river.

The nearest lake is a large sandy beach is 15km drive with an adventure park with a zip wire which goes over the lake, water sports, a restaurant and children’s activities and picnic area. La Chataigneraie is situated near a lot of lakes and man-made beaches so there are a lot to choose from. If you love fishing, this is the ideal place to come.

The city of Limoges, in southwest central France is only 30 km away. It is known for its decorated porcelain, much of which is on display at the Musée National Adrien Dubouché. In the historic center, medieval timber-frame houses line Rue de la Boucherie. Set in the former Episcopal Palace, the Musée des Beaux-Arts showcases the history of the city’s medieval enamel. The Gothic Cathédrale St-Étienne de Limoges took 6 centuries to complete.

You can take porcelain factory tours. The porcelain is expensive but very well made and attractive. There are designer made items such as the balloon dog which are very beautiful and impossible to believe that they are made of porcelain which is why many artists choose to have their designs made here. There is a very good factory shop whee you can buy porcelain to take home with you.

The Château de Rochechouart is 19km away. It is a thirteenth-century French castle, located at the top of the confluence of the Grêne and Vayres rivers in the commune of Rochechouart within the département of Haute-Vienne. There is a meteorite and contemporary art museum there with little french shops in the high street and a church with a twisted spire.
